Eight Years of Building Dreams: What I’ve Learned as a Real Estate Coach

Eight years ago, I made one of the biggest decisions of my life.I gave up the security of a strong agent’s pipeline day job to back myself completely, to take something that had been a side hustle for years and turn it into a full-time business.
That business became Real Estate Nation.

At the time, I didn’t have a team - I just had a belief: that the real estate industry needed more real support. Not just surface-level motivation, but deep strategy, leadership, and systems that could help agents and business owners create lasting success. All the thing that I had when I was an business owner and agent.
And so I built a marketing plan, hired a social media manager and an accountant and built the road map.
Eight years later, I’m proud to say that belief became something far greater than I ever imagined.
The Joy of Helping Others Win
There’s nothing more fulfilling than helping someone realise what they’re capable of. Whether it’s an agent achieving their best sales year ever, a business owner building a strong team around them, or someone finally finding the confidence to take the leap into leadership - those moments light me up every single time.
The truth is, when you help someone else succeed, you grow too. Every person I’ve coached has taught me something - about resilience, mindset, creativity, and the power of backing yourself even when it feels uncomfortable.
Watching people step into their greatness has been one of the greatest privileges of my career. And it’s reminded me, over and over again, that success doesn’t happen by chance, it happens by choice.
Greatness Exists in Everyone
I’ve learned that every single person has greatness within them. But not everyone is willing to believe it.
The difference between those who dream and those who achieve isn’t talent or luck, it’s action.
It’s the willingness to learn, to implement quickly, and to do what others aren’t prepared to do.
Those who rise to the top are the ones who push through discomfort. They embrace growth, even when it means unlearning old habits or rethinking what leadership really looks like. They know that change doesn’t happen from wishing, it happens from doing.
Exhaustive preparation boosts confidence.
I’ve seen people who once doubted themselves go on to build multimillion-dollar businesses, lead teams with heart, and create lifestyles they used to only imagine. And that’s the kind of transformation that reminds me exactly why I started this journey.
What These Eight Years Have Taught Me
Eight years of business will teach you a few things, some inspiring, some humbling, and some that make you laugh at how little you knew in the beginning.
Here are a few of my biggest lessons:
Your people are everything. The right team, community, and support system will take you further than you could ever go alone.
Systems set you free. Growth without structure is chaos. Building repeatable, reliable processes has been the difference between burnout and sustainability.
Mindset matters most. Skills can be taught, but belief has to be built. Your business will only ever grow to the level of your self-belief.
Level up constantly. It’s never “done”. You’re always evolving - new challenges, new ideas, new seasons. Growth isn’t a destination, it’s a rhythm.
Fulfilment beats fame. The real reward for most isn’t recognition - it’s impact. It’s the messages from clients saying, “I did it,” or “You changed my life.”
Those lessons haven’t just shaped my business - they’ve shaped me.
Looking Ahead
Eight years is a milestone, but it’s not the finish line. It’s a reminder that when you build something with purpose, it can evolve and continue to create impact in ways you never expected.
The next chapter of Real Estate Nation is about legacy. It’s about helping more people build businesses that last, businesses that create freedom, stability, and opportunity not just for owners, but for teams and families too.
I’m so proud of what’s been built so far.But I’m even more excited for what’s still to come.
To everyone who’s been part of this journey – my clients, partners, team members, and champions – THANK YOU! You’ve trusted me, challenged me, believed in me, and grown alongside me.
Here’s to the next season of greatness.Let’s keep building businesses (and lives) we’re proud of.
Yours in Real Estate,
Sherrie xx
