Calling a time out.

In a lot of my conversations at the moment, I’m hearing how tired and mentally drained people are feeling.

It’s no surprise seeing as 2020 has been one crazy ride.

We’ve been pushed and pulled to our limits. The demands of 2020 have at times for all of us been overwhelming.

We’ve had to evolve and engineer new ways of doing business and managing new ways of operating our homes.

Many of us have had to learn and manage home schooling.

Many of us have not taken ANY holidays this year.

Most of us have also had loads more mental pressures deal with health, clients and our businesses.

All of this is super energy expending.

And I have to ask if you are tired now, how are you going to have the energy to gear up when the market starts coming back?

Whatever 2020 has demanded from you, you need to make sure you don’t burn out. Burn out is not a badge of honour and it can negatively impact your business, relationships and lifestyle more than you can imagine AND it can take a long period of time to fully recover from.

After how hard you’ve worked this year and how much you have evolved your business, the last thing you need is to hit burn out and have all that work wiped out.

Taking time for yourself is vital. We often prioritise everyone else’s needs before our own because we don’t want to seem selfish or feel guilty but that’s not healthy.

Too often in the conversations, I’m having I’m hearing all about how guilty people feel about having a break. But now it’s even more important than ever to lose the selfish belief and guilt and take time out to unwind, recharge and bring those stress levels down.

If you had a piece of machinery in your business, you would service it and keep it well maintained. We need to look at ourselves the same way.

So, here is your homework.

Book in a time out. Give yourself a break.

Invest in the retreat, go on a holiday, book in an activity that relaxes you.

Just book in some QUALITY me time now.

Quality is the key here. The quality of your “me” time is more important than the quantity.

If you have a full schedule and can’t book a holiday or retreat, make sure you take ten minutes out each day to focus on something you enjoy.

Close the office door, switch off technology and give yourself a break. Book in flight mode.

Taking time out in 2020 has become something we find difficult to do. But if you’re feeling tired at the moment, I would guess that you're also feeling stressed, unproductive, having trouble focusing and problem-solving. You may even be feeling stale in your work and uncreative. You might be struggling to pull together deals and find the win/win for your buyers and sellers.

All signs you need a break.

So put that guilt aside and lock something in now.

Some time off will provide you with greater well-being, clarity, motivation, productivity and give you the space to reboot the vision of your business and put together those sales.

You’ll come back refreshed and ready to take on the world!
